Why this order
Only two entries matter and they are one continuous story: Clannad, then After Story. Do not stop at the end of the first — After Story is where the work actually goes, and the first season reads as a pleasant school comedy without it. Release order puts the 2007 film first, which is a compressed alternate retelling made before the series and is the wrong introduction; the two Another World OVAs are alternate endings for routes the series did not take, and only make sense once you have finished After Story.
