The Monogatari franchise runs to 17 entries — eight TV series, three films and six OVAs and specials — spanning 2009 to 2026, 121 episodes in all. The order below is a recommended viewing order rather than broadcast order — the reasoning is set out directly beneath.

Why this order
Monogatari is broadcast out of order on purpose, and release order is very nearly the right answer — the reveals are staged for it. The one change worth making is Kizumonogatari, a prequel released seven years after the series it precedes. Watching it third, straight after Bakemonogatari, gives you Araragi and Kiss-Shot's first meeting at the point the story starts referring back to it, instead of years later. The other adjustment is Hanamonogatari, which is set after almost everything else despite airing in 2014; it lands better near the end. Everything from Second Season onwards assumes you have seen Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari.
